K3ng Keyer Schematic [upd] ❲TRENDING | Pack❳
Elias looked at the small, unassuming device. It wasn't a mess of wires anymore; it was a tool. "I think I’m going to add the LCD screen next," he said, reaching for the schematic printout again. "I want to see the words as they're being sent."
Similar to keying, PTT requires a transistor switch. Many K3NG schematics dedicate a separate pin (e.g., D13) for PTT. This allows the keyer to put the radio into transmit mode before the first dit—essential for QSK (full break-in) or semi-break-in operation.

Wrap your paddle cable and the cable leading to your transmitter around mix-31 or mix-43 ferrite toroids to block common-mode RF currents. If you want an audible sidetone, install the sidetone transistor stage. The nKeyer schematic uses Q2 (2N2222) with a 1 kΩ series resistor from an Arduino pin (e.g., D12) to the base, and a speaker connected from collector to GND. An optional 100 µF capacitor (C5) in series with the speaker blocks DC.
The schematic includes on CLK and DT lines. Without these, the encoder will jump erratically. Elias looked at the small, unassuming device
Silas plugged the drive into Elias’s dusty laptop. A file folder opened, revealing a massive collection of files.
The solves this with a 2N2222A transistor (or BS170 MOSFET) and a 1kΩ base resistor .
Place 0.01µF or 0.1µF ceramic disc capacitors across the paddle input lines to ground, and across the transistor collector-to-emitter line. This shunts stray RF safely to ground before it reaches the microcontroller. "I want to see the words as they're being sent

This is just a sampling; the project also includes practice modes, beacon/Fox modes, Hellschreiber support, QRSS, and even a “dead operator watchdog.” The sheer number of options is a testament to the care that has gone into the software over many years.
