KMSmicro is a "KMS emulator" that mimics a legitimate host. In official corporate environments, a KMS host allows organizations to activate multiple copies of Office without needing individual product keys. KMSmicro creates a virtual environment on a local machine to trick Office 2013 into believing it has connected to such a host.

KMS is a Microsoft technology that allows system administrators to activate multiple computers on a local network without sending each one individually to Microsoft's servers. A corporate KMS host is set up, and client computers "check in" with this host to confirm their activation status.
