Once this is complete, your OBDwiz installation will be fully licensed and ready to use. You must have your OBDLink adapter connected to the vehicle and PC throughout the activation process.
The software is sensitive to typos. The most common mistakes involve mistaking the number 0 for the letter O , or the number 1 for the capital letter I .
Instead of entering a static key during installation, you now complete an automated registration process:
Ensure your PC is connected to the internet and your OBDLink adapter is connected to your vehicle. Navigate to OBDwiz > Settings > OBDLink Find your Windows product key - Microsoft Support
: Ensure you have a stable connection during the process.
Plug your OBDLink adapter into the vehicle's OBD-II port and turn the ignition to "On" (engine off). Launch OBDwiz: Open the software on your Windows PC. Initiate Activation: Navigate to Alternatively, go to to open the License Manager. Select User Type: "I am a new OBDLink user" and select Enter Details: Provide your name and email address when prompted.
Since the licensing system has changed, the way you "get a license" depends entirely on which version of the software you are using.
If you lost your packaging card, use the official OBDLink License Key Recovery tool online. Enter the exact email address used during your initial product registration to have the key resent to your inbox. Invalid Key Error
If you cannot afford the $99 Professional license, or if you simply do not want to pay, you have excellent legal alternatives. Do not risk malware for basic diagnostics.
